JKNRC still in doubt for Delhi Buddh International Circuit
The final round of the JK National Racing Championship which is being scheduled at the Buddh International Circuit on Dec 1–2 is still under doubts.
JK Tyre and BIC are still in talks for incorporating the series on the Dec1–2 event which hosts VW Polo R Cup, MRF F2000 (Rnd 2) and JK Asia Series while the final announcement on the status of JKNRC is expected by Nov 9th.
The JKNRC consists of Indian Touring Cars (Super Saloons), Indian Junior Touring Cars (Junior Saloons) and the Formula LGB F4.
The cancellation of the final round of FIA GT1 World Championships scheduled at BIC on Dec 1–2 was the main reason to fill in the JKNRC while the GT1´s scheduled support races VW Polo R Cup & JK Formula Asia Series (JKRAS) are still being held at the mentioned date along with another addition, the MRF F2000 series.
The JKRAS & MRF F2000 series were also the support race for the Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix held earlier on Oct 27–28.
If talks fail with the Buddh International Circuit then the JKNRC´s final round willl be held in its originally scheduled venue, Chennai´s MMRT track on Dec 17–18.
The official letter from JK Tyre to the participants and teams stated that the teams and drivers to be prepared for both situation as it hangs on a 50:50 and the final result will be confirmed on November 9th.
The JKNRC teams those had booked for Delhi will get a 25% discount if the event gets cancelled. JKNRC organizer and title sponsor JKTyre wants the National Championship to be held in JKTyre´s hometown in Delhi to expose the national racing scene to the Northern frontier of the county while the participating teams and drivers feel moving all the way to Delhi from Chennai would be extremely costly in effect of logistics and they prefer Chennai would be the ideal venue for the finals unless they get logistics costs covered up.
The National drivers who are expecting a taste of the mega track BIC will have to wait until the final call is made until tomorrow.
